The 23rd international apostolic journey of Pope Benedict XVI will be to Latin America: Mexico, from March 23 to 25; and Cuba from March 26-28. In 1999, Pope John Paul II visited Mexico to deliver the post-synodal Apostolic Exhortation “Ecclesia in America”. With this document, the Pope stressed the unity of the Church in the Americas despite socio-cultural differences, and said must be united to face the challenges of evangelization and the promotion of human values. When Pope Benedict XVI arrives in Mexico, he will visit areas different than those visited by John Paul II: He will be in León, in the state of Guanajuato, which is in central part of the country.
